It seems to be the season for clothing collection companies.

This week they are all over our district.

Can I just remind you they are not collecting for charity, they are collecting for their own means and gain.

Please remember the advice from Trading Standards not to deal with traders on the doorstep.

Also, please remember when you open your door to callers you do so with the chain in place.

Please do not forget to make sure your elderly and vulnerable neighbours are aware of this advice.

Thank you to everyone who has rung or emailed me to let me know these companies are around.

Dear all, some really news. The found pony has this morning been safely reunited with its owner.

I and the owner would very much like to thank everyone for the incredibly amount of assistance given on this matter, examples of which have included offers of a safe home, networking with other equine organisations and circulation amongst scheme members.

It is a pleasure to be working with you all. Again my sincere thanks Mick PC Mick Wright Force Watch Liaison Officer

Dear all please see below some advice to help you enjoy a safe and crime free summer, very many thanks PC Mick Wright Force Watch Liaison Officer.

RESIDENTS across the county are being advised by Kent Police to keep their belongings safe this summer, as temperatures soar.

The force is reminding people to maintain home and car security in the hot weather.

The increased temperatures have a direct impact on the number of burglaries due to insecurity.

Chief Superintendent Matt Nix, of Kent Police's Partnership and Crime Reduction, said: "It is easy for people to forget or get complacent about their property when they are enjoying the warmer weather.

"Kent Police would like residents to remain security-conscious and would ask them to take some very simple steps to ensure they, and their homes, do not fall victim to burglars. There are very few burglaries in Kent and Medway and we want to ensure that continues to be the case during the hot weather.

"If you are in your back garden, secure windows and doors in other parts of your property. If you leave your house please check that all windows and doors are shut."

Reduce risk of burglary by: keeping doors and windows shut if you aren't in the room, thinking about which windows you leave open in hot weather, remembering some burglars can get through small spaces so, if in doubt, shut and lock it, locking garden equipment and ladders away and securing sheds with strong padlocks

Burglars will seize any opportunity to steal and will look for doors and windows left open on hot days.

Motorists are advised to ensure windows and doors are locked, Sat nav suction marks are wiped off windscreen and no items are left on display.

Dear all, here is the latest message from KCC Clean Kent. Alongside the other members of the office I have registered as a volunteer and have been given a unique number that will identify me when I call to report a problem.

Please give it a go, many thanks PC Mick Wright County Watch Liaison Officer

AN EYES AND EARS NETWORK FOR A CLEANER, SAFER KENT

If you have a keen interest in the cleanliness and safety of your local area this could be a volunteering opportunity for you.

We are recruiting volunteers to the Clean Kent Watch as part of Neighbourhood Watch Kent, to help observe and report illegal environmental activities.

'Eyes and ears' reporting plays a valuable role for the Clean Kent Campaign, which seeks to improve and enhance the quality of the local street scene by reducing fly tipping, abandoned vehicles and associated fires.

As a Clean Kent Watch volunteer you will be provided with an information pack which includes a unique identification number, enabling you to report information to trained staff 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Your reporting will be used to inform clean-up activity through to enforcement action and help prevent and deter these environmental offences.

To find out more and to register log onto www.cleankent.co.uk/cleankentwatch.html or e-mail clean.kent@kent.gov.uk

Your help is very much appreciated in order to make Kent clean and beautiful.
